Retinal Detachment!
Nowadays a lot of people are suffering from shortsighted and had to wear spectacles since they were young, this is due to the IT massive wave which require almost every working or non-working people to face at the computer monitor either for their daily work or own leisure. Eventhough the shortsighted eyesight can be correct using spectacles, but there’s one thing where you have to beware of, which is the Retinal Detachment.
What is Retinal Detachment? This is the question i’d been asking myself when i first heard from the Doctor during my 2nd checkup on my eyes for LASIK. He told me he discover some small area within my retina are torn, these torn are call retinal tears or retinal breaks, which can lead to Retinal Detachment, and Retinal Detachment can cause permanent vision loss! He told me about the symptoms when this Retinal Detachment, which one of them is sudden appear of floaters on your vision. Floaters are little “cobwebs” or specks that float about in your field of vision, and/or light flashes in the eye.

example of floaters. actual floaters would be much more sharper and obvious.
As for another symptom is the appearance of a curtain over the field of vision, in other words sudden blackout for split seconds.

example of curtain appearance.
After the Doctor told me about these symptoms which actually did really happen on myself, i stumble for quite a while and wondering how come this kind of thing exist and how on earth i got it? Of course is then explained by the Doctor said that is actually normal for shortsighted people, and there’s no way to cure it, but there’s a way to prevent the retinal tear or break to continue expanding or breaking, that’s laser. The Doctor will direct a laser beam to your eye, high heat laser will burn tiny parts and melt around the tear/break to form a barrier to hold it.And so i went to Tung Shin Hosptital in Kuala Lumpur to undergo this surgery, and the Doctor made a couple of layers around the tear/break for insurance. From the day of the surgery until now, never once have i seen this floaters or curtain symptoms on my vision again, so i guess it did really retain it for temporarily, and oh yes it would continue break but chances are quite low.So for you all who are shortsighted, take note on this. If u happen to have these kind of symptom or you do suspect you actually have it, go consult an eye specialist before your tear/crack have gone worst! For more information on it you can actually refer to the National Eye Institude

oh yeah~~ no need to wear specs! true that 40+ will have long sight and it of course when u have long sight, ur short sight will decrease…but for my case, my short sight power was overwhelming, so is better for me to do since i m still far away from 40+ and also save all the hassle on wearing contact lens everyday
is very suffer to purposely wake up earlier for wearing contact lens especially for somebody who need 3 alarms to be able to wake..

1st alarm is to let u know what time is it now, 2nd alarm is to let u wake a bit, 3rd alarm is to make u totally wake up. hehe, is needed
another reason for me to try not to wear contact lens is the solution issue, i think u know about the renu solution’s thing right? then last month i heard complete 1 batch’s solution has problem, now that’s why i get freaked out and decided finally to do the laser, even more scare for the solution problem ya know

Hi there.
I’ve having a big floater on my right eye. Already made an appointment with eye specialist, she said my retina is healthy. About the floater, she said to get used to it. But the floater is a big nuisance to me! Everywhere I move my eyeballs, its always stuck there.
Do you know if there is laser treatment to break/destroy the floaters?
Please help… feeling so despair
