Me vs Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) Part II - Nu Life

2 - 3 years has passed and another incident happen when i was in my practical traning period. All of my coursemates had graduated during that time, reason I was still there doing my practical was because, ya…I’d been extended. Lolz~, but I never regret being exteneded though. Now back to the story, one of my coursemate who graduated suddenly came and find me to meet each other and claimed that he wanted to introduce me on something cool on Network Marketing. To me, I really never heard of the word “Network Marketing” before, not to mention I know what it does. Due to the expertise of my friend in the IT field, so eventually i thought is some sort of IT’s networking related things (I don’t know why I did not notice the “marketing” word), and end up meeting him. Upon reaching the meeting area, I start to smell something uncomfort. After meeting him, he brought me into an office area, once i entered i saw - NU Life.

The smell to me is even more strong after seeing the environment of the office and the name of it. Then there’s somebody there came towards us, inviting me to take a seat, and the talk starts. Expectedly, MLMs…and that person who talked to me apparantly is his upline. Before he enters the talk he asked me whether do I have dreams and visions which I don’t think I can achieve it in my life, asked me to list down all of them. After listing it down, he told me: “In Nu-life, nothing is impossible and in Nu-life, we will help you achieve your dream!” pretty cool huh! So he go on explaining to me how their system works. After the SiTO case, I learned to kept silent all the time, but this time I did listen to what he said from A-Z. I was actually thinking whether I should give it a try or not cause since is selling some good stuffs (their product). Without giving me a chance to go back home and have a deep thought of it, he straight away take out a form and say: “So, do you want me to fill the form for you or you fill it yourself?” wow, perfect tactic to not give a chance for me to go home and think. Well, due to the slight of joining desire i had just now and since I was in my practical period and doesn’t have anything on particular to do after training, so in the end I signed up so that I could fill up my extra time doing this.

After signing up, I was required to join their talk every Tuesday and Thursday night, and preferably on Wednesday night as well. Well, as I said since I have nothing to do right after my training during the day time, so I do join their talk on the respective nights. Their talk were expectedly energetic and have their very own reasons and ways to sell things to their customers, giving you all sort of their succesful stories, GMGP in particular. All of these were to give you a lead on how to be success like them. I did gained some experience from there frankly speaking. But after 2 weeks of attending the talk, the 2nd week’s Saturday I went there again for some New User Training.

As usual he gave me all the GMGP story talk. When he finished his talk, he told me: “Hey, I think we have to speed up everything now, you have to get a business card of your own from us, a sets of casetttes which inside recorded the ways to success story from their top 10 guys, few sets of registration forms, and get some products from them so that it could be act as a sample when you aretrying to convince other people to join or buy it.” Ermm, ya..what he said is quite true because you have to need an asset to really start doing it too, but at that moment I do not have that much of money as my practical training was actually being a free labour, no salary or intensive payment or anything. Guess what he said next? He told me to ask for help from my parents to sort of “borrow” from them. Before this I’d already told him that I do not want my parents to know about it because my parents are extreme super duper object on this kind of marketing thing, and he also agreed that do not even let my parents know about it. Told me everything can be go slowly, no problem. Then he said he wanted to speed things up for me and asked me to consult my parents for money and said that he could go over to my house and explain everything to my parents. To me, this was already gone too far. Maybe to somebody is normal and is fair, but it doesn’t work to me. No way I am gonna let my parents involved in this and I do not want to end up living in a family which the parents doesn’t even want to talk to their son or even having to be lecture by them everyday at home, additionally he told me that don’t think you shouldn’t earn money from your friend, but they are the one who should let you earn, to me really friends is more important than any other things, I would never do such thing to a friend and end up to be alone in the end of the day.

So after that day, I never attended their talk again, neither do any of their meeting even he and my coursemate called me. After 3 - 4 months, I finally met up with my this coursemate again and told him i decided not to continue on it. He told me that he will not fail to success because of my quit, which might be true and I doesn’t really want to know either, so i officially quit it. Till now I am not sure how is he in Nu Life but I can say he’s a good political blogger today ;) After one year, I went to one of my friends house and happen to saw the particular cd named - “Trillion” and also with the name of the upline of my friend on it, so i asked him is it this guy approached him. “Yes” he told me, never convince him to join or vice versa because I do not intend to interfere on it, certain people have different set of mind and is their own will to or not to join it though ;) End of Nu Life story

While MLM can be a viable business, the single thing that totally turns me off is : the people. They are so pushy and aggresive as if they wanna grasp your throat and never let go.

Worse thing is, when one of your friends and family do join, their personality change 180 degrees and becomes one of them.

I know this is an old post but i just want to say… MLM people would want you to think that money is everything. Help your family, join us, put more money into our bank accounts.
My friend tried to get me to join, by sweet talkin’. Help my family, have a life…yada yada… he didn’t tell me I’d have to sell some of my soul to get ahead…lying, selfishly deceiving… If i wasn’t doing such things for this business, I’d still feel bad earning money from my downline who probably borrowed or begged or cheated whatever money from their families/friends/acquaintances just to start this business. Please, they would talk as though all men are money hungry. Money is important, but not that important.
