Suffered from Horrible Internet Connection

FYI, this is my 100th post!!

Internet Connection has became a part of my living eversince I started studying in MMU. It was not only my first exposed to computer during my first day in MMU but was also my first time using the Internet, and my current email account from yahoo was actually my first email created when I first touch a PC and get onto the Internet breaking the virgin barrier. Since then until now, there weren't a day where I did not use the Internet except for when I am on holiday or when my pc is in medical custody. So Internet to me is more like a need rather than an option. Reason I touch on these history is because the post which i am going to talk about brings me some memories from the passed 7 years where I was totally blue ass in IT. Now back to what i wanted to write. Last few weeks, for some reason which I really don't know as I am not a network expert, the network connection in my office just suddenly become very unusual. All of us get disconnected very frequent be it is for the msn or net surfing. I wouldn't say it was slow as when it is active, the speed of browsing was quite fast. However it will only remain for less than 4 - 5 minutes before it get disconnected and display time out error page. It was soooooo frustrated especially when you are in hurry on getting something from the Internet or searching some information. I believe a lot of you all would feel the same way as I did.

This issue went on for around 1 - 2 weeks or even more maybe which i couldn't even remember. Finally we called the TMNET technician to fix the problem. So as a practice all our connection were cut off for half to one hour. Of course we can bear with it, for the better connection's sake. Finally we were told that it's done fixed and so we happily tried it. Guess what? It didn't really improve but turn out to be even worst than before fix. We discovered it for quite late and those 2 technicians were long time gone for good. So one of my superior called the TMNET to question why, and yes they said they will check this and that and all sort of tedious and useless information. In the end they again said they will check properly to see what's going on. So we had to withstand with these even worst connection. The connection was so damn bad until I couldn't even reply any comment on my blog, reply anything on webmastermalaysia forum, and caused me to did some double posting on it, no blog hopping, no nothing! For during that time I prevent myself from surfing the net to not get myself from getting even more aggravated from it.

Arrgghhh!!!

4 - 5 days had passed and my superior again called the TMNET specific staffs, FYI not only one. All of them turns out to be engaged or nobody answered eventhough it get through. Coincidence? I wished I could tell myself it is. Today I didn't know what my superior did on the server and the network line or whatever hardware which are related, the connection is back to how it was before those 2 mofos technician came in. Though the connection was still get disconnected frequently, but still is better then being worst!

My superior told me this sucky connection might most probably be the cable quality for that area which I also suffer from the same problem in my house. Yes, TMNET people do know about this issue and for sure TM won't take the initiative to fix the cable as not only it requires a lot of work but also is very heavy cost on it. So what we can do is to wait for WiMAX from the license occured companies! I really do hope WiMAX can overcome all these nonsense!

Fast connection which always get disconnected and Extreeeemmmmllyyy slow connection, which one will you choose? From the above incident, I really would choose fast but frequent disconnection :(

I think the sentence that caught my attention was

“It was not only my first exposed to computer during my first day in MMU but was also my first time using the Internet”

you have never used a computer before coming to MMU??

@Aeres: FYI, i used before but it was just pure gaming purposes, somemore were those pixelated games. Never really use it for any formal purpose. After i enter MMU only i know what exactly is windows and officially been using it.
