Boonage

How long has it been? Hmm…i’d resigned from my previous job since end of Apr 2008..yup yup! That’s the time when i started doing fulltime freelance. It had been 3 months and it’s going to be the end of the 4th. Well let’s see, being a fulltime freelance does really has its advantages, like u will have all the time u need, no more waking up at 9am and work till 6pm or similar, sometimes even have to OT without having any extra pay. U could take a break anytime u feel tired or stuck with ideas. No more bossy boss etc, one work - Freedom, and that’s what i feel for a fulltime freelancer

However…

everything in this world always has its advantages together with its disadvantages. During this 3 going 4th months of fulltime freelance, i did had my very own freetime and everything was…well, relax and freedom. From waking up at kinda late in the morning, after breakfast will start working on the freelance projects, then lunch with either at home or going out “da bao”. Then will continue with the projects. Bath, dinner…and continue with the projects and in between will game a while to relax the mind, all up till midnight and head on to the bed preparing for the next day. So…saw anything very wrong there?

Social and Communications!!! From morning i woke up till at night i start going to bed, it’s just me and my pc. No others, i can’t call my friends out for chat in the middle of the day as they need working, i can’t find my friends out for lepak around because of the same reason. At night some of them has to OT, some of them are tired and some of them were tired after the whole working day. This is so wrong way to live a life. At the moment where i was in 2nd going to the 3rd months, my passion of doing a great job started to fade away. Why? because most of the time the suggestion u made to them or whatever extra things u did to them they wouldn’t had take it, rather they follow back to what and how they want it eventhough it may or may not going to the wrong direction. As time passed, slowly my way of dealing things is - As long as the clients like it and i am fine with it. Since then i started to slack my work and life, starting to be a very zombie like fella with no passion at all, right there and then, ur learning curve started to become a snail crawling and even become static. Yup, that’s freelance my friend…especially if u are doing this alone.

So during the 3rd months i finally made up my mind to change (again). I start login on to jobstreet and flipping over The Star to look for a job. Of course this time with a slowly way of finding…and yesterday, i’d started my new job as Web Designer (again) in Innity. It’s everything start from the beginning but hey, the truth is i felt more lively because there are at least more “humans” around me!

People, especially those who fantasize being a freelancer a lot. Take my advice, think twice before involving into it especially if u are often doing this freelance work alone. Unless…u already had a solid team which did the same as u - being a fulltime freelancing team!
